  • BIG SEE Awards: Libearty, the only Romanian attraction awarded at the Month of Design

The Libearty sanctuary in Zărnești received the BIG SEE Tourism Award. The sanctuary and its initiator, Cristina Lapis, were awarded in the “Creative story and identity as an experience“, in a ceremony that happened in Ljubljana.

Month of Design, the festival were the sanctuary and its initiator were awarded, is an annual festival of know-how and creativity in design. It represents an original platform for evaluation, promotion and identification of significant achievements in the field of design in the Southeast Europe and in the worad.

The idea of the sanctuary and its author, Cristina Lapis, were recognised for the way they managed to have a touristic impact in this part of the world, through the educational role that the bear sanctuary promotes. Libearty is the largest brown bear sanctuary in Europe.

“We are hounoured that our efforts for the welfare and protection of the animals are are acknowledged again. These efforts also raised educational tourism in the sanctuary. We would like that tall he bears live in the forest, where they belong to. Through the examples of the tragic destinies of these beautiful creatures, who had the chance to be saved and brought to Libearty, we want to persuade both the authorities and the tourists that this is how it should be“, said Mrs. Cristina Lapis, the president of the Millions of Friends Association.

The project was presented by Laurentiu Titei, public relations specialist in the Millions of Friends Association. 19 countries were present at this festival: Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cyprus, The Czech Republic Greece, Croatia, Italy, Hungary, Kosovo, Republic of Macedonia, Moldavia, Montenegro, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Serbia. Big See is an original platform for evaluation, promotion and identification of significant achievements in the field of design in the Southeast Europe and in the world.
